Friends of the Island Fox is a joint effort of conservation professionals and concerned private citizens striving to support public education, research and conservation efforts to ensure the island fox’s continued survival.

What's NEW with island foxes !
Conservation Projects:
- Funding radio monitoring collars and identification microchips for island foxes on San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz and Santa Catalina Islands. Since 2005 we have funded 371 radio collars.
- Supporting investigations into new and continuing health threats to island foxes
Funding blood testing of island foxes during health checks to provide a first alert regarding diseases introduced to the islands, serology testing.
blood sample being taken from island fox - Support for the annual Island Fox Recovery Working Group meeting to ensure the sharing of scientific information, resources and conservation effort between all entities working to protect island foxes.
- Reducing negative impacts from people, FIF funds installation of 8 "Fox-Saver" bins on Santa Catalina Island and campground food lockers. And supports "Watch for Foxes" road signs to reduce island fox fatalities.
- Working with Channel Islands Restoration to restore and preserve island fox habitat.

Friends of the Island Fox provides presentations to community groups, educators, and students regarding the endangered island fox and its important relationship with the Channel Island ecosystem.
School Programs
School programs are available for K-College. Reservations are made on a first come basis and donations are always welcome. Programs are also available in a virtual format. Community Programs
FIF offers programs to community groups for an honorarium or by specific arrangement. Programs provide information on the island fox, how it came to be endangered on four of the Channel Islands, conservation efforts to save the island fox and current status. Programs can be tailored to your group’s interests (Channel Island geology, plants, reptiles, birds, connection to the marine ecosystem). Professional Development Workshops
FIF also offers professional development workshops for educators on using a local endangered species and the Channel Islands ecosystem to teach math, science, language skills and conservation issue resolution.
