Help Us

The mission of Friends of the Island Fox is to support the efforts to save the endangered island fox on the California Channel Islands through education and conservation programs.

How can you Help the Island Fox?

Donate

How?  On each page of our website on the right hand side you will see a box “Donate to Friends Now” where you can contribute through PayPal. Alternatively, please send your check, made payable to the Channel Islands Park Foundation and on the note line designate “For Island Fox Program”. Mail to: 1901 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, CA  93001-4354

Why?   The recovery of the island fox requires funds to support the large amount of work for monitoring and ensuring the health and safety of each island fox population. Funds are needed for all aspects of fox recovery:  to purchase essential radio collars, vaccinations, fox health checks, necropsies, research programs, and fox awareness road signs to prevent vehicular mortality.

Our Education Programs have grown, but funding is needed to purchase the artifacts and literature  used in these presentations.  We must continue to teach the community about the endangered island fox and the California Channel Islands to ensure support for fox recovery efforts.  To date thousands of children and adults have been reached throughout California’s Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties.

Invite Us To Your School of Community Group
Our free Education Programs are available to schools and adult organizations throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties.  Help the island fox by inviting us to your community, or by informing others of the availability of these programs.  Programs can be tailored to any grade and for any length. For more information on programs.

Island Fox Ambassador School
Your class, club, grade or school can become Island Fox Ambassadors. An FIF educator will come and give a presentation to your school or organization. We will then work with your group to help students  design their own service-learning project to participate in island fox conservation efforts and to educate their friends, schoolmates, families and/or community about the island fox. One student can make a difference for the island fox (Hannah’s Story) and a school working together can have a powerful impact (Island Fox Ambassadors).
